Fine Arts

Welcome to the Fine Arts, Spanish and History page

Art K-8

As I get my technological ducks in a row, I plan to have mulltiple pages accessible from this article.  First on the list is an on-line art gallery. As you may have heard,  the plan is to post at least one work of art by each student grades K-8 by the end of the school year. So many wonderful things are being made, painted and drawn this year!

U.S. History 5 & 8 - American History is one of my favorite subjects. We have the opportunity to learn more about our heritage as we do cross-curricular activites including music and art.  Results from some of  these projects will be posted as they become available.

Band Grades 5-9  The First Lutheran Bands are having avery busy year. We played for the Chili supper November 10,and are currently practicing for the Christmas concert on December 13.  Grades 7-9 are working very hard on the All-Region material for auditions in December. The All-Region material is a collection of scales and etudes specific for each instrument. These exercises  address needs specific to that instrument, and are the Arkansas Band and Orchestra Assiciation standards to which band directors teach.

The next event is Solo/Ensemble Festival the first weekend in March. Be watching for notices coming home, and listen to your child play his or her solo for you.

Spanish K-4 is a cultlural-awareness curricululm. Using the textbook series Muy Bien, we work our way through basic greetings, numbers, colors and simple sentences. To enrich the classroom experience, we learn songs to reinforce the lessons. Fourth grade students learn and present a complete puppet play in Spanish! A fun and engageing class, students participate in Total Physical Response activities as well as written and spoken dialogue.
