From the Principal
Two important weeks left, and we have a whole bunch of activities upcoming. Next week we have several activities scheduled. On Monday the 12th the Third Annual First Lutheran Golf Tournament will be held at Fianna Hills Country Club. We still have a few openings if anyone would like to golf. Tuesday the 13th is the Spring Concert beginning at 6:30 p.m. On Thursday the 15th the Kindergarten will be having their closing program, and on Friday the 16th we will be having the Follies in the afternoon. The 16th is also the 9th graders last day of school. Oh by the way, we still have a lot of important learning going on the last few days of school.
The first grade class is filling and quickly approaching the cut-off for being full. We have families returning enrollment forms everyday. If you have students that you are planning on enrolling, please return the forms to the school office, so we are aware of your intentions for next year and can make appropriate staffing adjustments. If you know of anyone who would be interested in receiving a quality Christ-centered education, please have them contact the school office and set up a time to come and tour our school.
We also still have some openings for our summer program. Please visit with Carla Brakhage, our Learning Center Director, for information and registration forms, or call the Preschool office at 452-5522 for more information.
This week at First Lutheran School several of the classes have been discussing Pentecost. The word Pentecost is derived from the Greek word for fifty. The Day of Pentecost, as recorded in Acts 2, occurred 50 days after Jesus' resurrection and 10 days after His ascension. Pentecost celebrates the sending of the Holy Spirit to the disciples following Jesus' ascension. The Holy Spirit still works in us today strengthening our faith and keeping us firm in God’s Word. As we discuss Pentecost we need to remember to thank our Heavenly Father for the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
“Bangin’ The Boards” is a 3 on 3 basketball tournament that will be hosted here at First Lutheran School. The tournament will take place on three Saturdays in June, the 14th, 21st, and the 28th. Teams will be limited to age 16 and up. There will be a men’s and women’s division. Cost will be $20 per person. There will also be a 3-point competition. If you know of anyone who would be interested in participating in this tournament, have them contact the school office.
Have a wonderful weekend!
