PROGRAMS

OUR SUBJECTS

RELIGION

Religion is not just an isolated subject, but integrated into all subjects and daily interactions. Through daily lessons of Bible stories, students get into God’s Word and learn to apply it to our lives today, our prayers and our evangelism. Age appropriate memory work of Bible verses, 10 Commandments, prayers and statements of faith are assigned weekly. While many of our students attend a variety of churches, we hold fast to the teaching of the LCMS doctrine.

MATHEMATICS

Math is a significant part of human logic and thoughts, and creates an effective way to create mental discipline and increase logical reasoning. It is important that students not only memorize facts and master computational skills, but gain the knowledge to apply these skills to solve new problems. Spiral learning allows continuous practice and mastery of skills. As students move from grade to grade, they will move from a “hands-on” learning to a more abstract learning while building a consistent math vocabulary.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Students in grades Kindergarten-5th grade receive daily instruction in phonics, reading, spelling and English. Additionally, second through fourth grades focus on enriching vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing skills. Individualized attention throughout the day helps students progress to their full potential.

SCIENCE

Our science curriculum is a faith based curriculum that encourages our students to become scientists and researchers in their everyday life. While at the same time, they get a deeper foundation in a scientific and biblical worldview. Our curriculum focuses around the scripture John 1:14 "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."

SOCIAL STUDIES

Our elementary social studies program focuses on U.S. geography, Arkansas history and U.S. history. Our curriculum also includes civics and economics concepts.

Students are introduced to the knowledge needed to become contributing citizens and leaders in our society. Our goal is to equip students with the skills necessary to understand, and make informed decisions about the ever-changing world in which we live. As students are introduced to social studies concepts, the content builds and goes deeper each year. Elementary social studies lays the framework for more in-depth learning and application in grade 6-12.

SPANISH

In our early elementary Spanish classes, we focus on greetings, colors, numbers and basic sentences.  Classes are lively as we use art and music to enhance the learning process. Children also gain insights into Spanish-speaking cultures. They gain an appreciation of these countries while also seeing the links between these cultures and our own. Daily reinforcement is possible because the teacher frequently greets and converses with students in other classes and other opportunities outside of the classroom. Early elementary Spanish classes meet once a week.

SPECIALS

Every student K-5 participates in choir twice a week, art once a week and produces a Primary Musical every fall. For more information, check out our Arts page.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Students in K-2 spend 30 minutes and students in 3-5 spend 45 minutes on Wednesdays meeting with Coach Lee. Activities are based on helping students improve balance, coordination, strength, endurance, flexibility and mobility.
